Inspired!!!

   Posted by: emilysfairies

I will be having a garage sale soon and to suppliment my sale I’ve been picking up stuff from craigs list free stuff. I picked up random boxes of stuff that the lady had packed up. She had cleaned out her garage and just wanted the stuff to be gone. Sitting on the top of the pile was a somerset studio magazine about making art with paper and mixed media. I have never looked at a sunset studio magazine to tell you the truth for the past several years have gone out of my way to avoid any art mag of any kind. Later I was eating a late night snack and decided to read the magazine. I was utterly blown away by it and my heart starting pounding and my thoughts were racing as I thought of all the different ways I could implement texture into my fairy art particularly into the costuming. Since then I have become gripped with the desire to create!! I have a few obstacles to overcome before I can start sharing my ideas visually with you.

Over a year ago my computer decided it didn’t want to connect to the Internet anymore so I’ve been using my itouch as my computer – Not a ideal tool when you want to create a studio environment! Specially since I can’t upload any pictures! Maybe with my garage sale money I’ll be able to buy an older computer.

For those out there who are looking for unique items to accent fairies or to incorporate into any art work – check out your local garage sales or thrift shops!! I have come across the most random unique items that you can imagine!! Plus the “hunt” is so fun and relaxing!

My yard sale is in few weeks so maybe I’ll have a “new” computer by the end of the month! (crossing fingers

Fairy language

   Posted by: emilysfairies

We talked in fairy language today. When my middle son was 9 months old he had to be emitted into the hospital for pneumonia and while I was there with him I invented the fairy language. I used it a couple of days ago when my oldest asked me to talk to the fairies to see if they had more fairy eggs for them. I remembered the language I had made up and talked to the fairies in the “fairy language”. My son was super impressed! Today we practiced saying each others names in the Ellandrian language.

I’m still here…

   Posted by: emilysfairies Tags: ,

So, it’s been a long time! A very, very long time!!! First I want to apologize to all those that I have disappointed and wronged with my disappearance. I would like to complete any unfinished business so please contact me if something is still outstanding.

My life pretty much stood still after my grandfather passed and just about a month later my beloved grandmother followed him. She had some medical problems but she pretty much gave up after he passed and died of a broken heart.

After they were gone I didn’t even want to look at my sculpting or anything I was working on. It hurt so much to think about my grandparents that I avoided any thought of them and the fairies just hit too close to home. I couldn’t separate Emily’s story from my grandparents so I buried Emily’s story along with them. I squashed all my creativity and any thoughts of the fairies. Pretty soon weeks and then months would go by without me thinking of them. It’s been almost two years.

I have yet to touch the clay.

Something is happening though…. I think my heart is finally beginning to thaw. With springs arrival I can feel nostalgic whispers and the magic of the fairies stirring once again.

The dinning room table overlooks our small flower garden and while we eat I find myself telling stories to my three little boys about the fairies that live in the garden. During sunny days we hunt for fairy eggs (chocolate malted robin eggs) amongst the flowers. The boys ask me about the fairies; what they eat, where they live and so on.

Last night my son had a hard time falling asleep and was crying. As I was soothing him he turned to me and asked me what fairies brought good dreams. I told him the Dream Darlings did. He smiled, turned over and promptly fell asleep. Something broke inside me and I think I might be ready to create again.

But what if I can’t….has it been too long?

I am afraid to touch the clay.

Gentle Faie ~ costume finished, almost

   Posted by: emilysfairies

I am almost finished with her. I still have to take her hair out of the bun, wet it and let the curls come back, place a floral crown on her head, finish her wings, put green grass on her stone stand and finish her staff. A lot still to  do! I’ll see how much I get done today. =)

I’ve been working on this fairy for the past several weeks. She has been really fun and is going to be a gentle faie. I don’t remember the last time I sculpted a gentle faie and it is wonderful to be working on one again! =)

#680 Midnight Dance ~ on ebay now, ends tomorrow evening

   Posted by: emilysfairies

Here is the link to her auction ~ #680 Midnight Dance, Fairies of the Midnight Court Collection

This fairy took me a long, long time to create. I have placed my heart and soul into her and am so proud of how she turned out. Her hair is rooted and will last forever, no glue was used. Her dress was carefully made of clay and material. She will be placed on ebay tonight. I am going to place a reserve price on her ~ I spent hours and hours and hours creating her and need to make sure I have enough for food $$ for the month. Since it takes me so much longer to sculpt these fairies with the attention to detail and quality I needed to place the reserve price. Also, she is a larger fay and took more time to create due to her size. I am so thankful that I can sculpt fairies!! I enjoy it so much and because of my sculpting I am able to stay home and be with my two babies (another on the way due Oct 19!!) and still create a small income for food and clothes and medical bills.

Fairy of the Midnight court ~ update

   Posted by: emilysfairies

What a long, long, long time it has been since I’ve done any kind of sculpting. My two boys have been severly sick for the past 10 days and I have been wiped out. I don’t know if you remember the sickness they had last December where they both ended up in the hospital for several nights….but they had almost the same thing again. My oldest had an extream hight temperature for several days which required around the clock watching. It was very very stressful and I am so glad that it is almost over. They have runny noses and a cough still. Meanwhile I came down with a mild version of what they had and currently I can talk no louder then a whisper due to a lost voice. My fairy has sat finished and completed for over a week and I just didn’t have the energy or time to place her on eBay. Here are several before pictures of her in the process of being created.

This fairy was so much fun to create!! She is available for sale on ebay now and will end next Monday evening.

I finished her! I can’t beleive I did it!! I feel like I have climbed Mt. Everest or something! It was such a wonderful feeling to look at her and say to myself “I finished her, she is done!” It had been years since I have created a sculpture this large and it was so much fun to costume her! I love how she looks! She looks like a princess to me ~ thus the name. =) She will be available on ebay tomorrow night. I’ll send out a notice via the mailing list as soon as she is placed on ebay. She is so beautiful in real life! I don’t think the pictures did her justice.
