I have come pretty far on the fairy who was originally supposed to be a Dana o’Shee but since has changed to the Fairies of the Midnight Court Collection. She just was not fitting into the Dana o’Shee persona and I didn’t feel right about her belonging to that Collection. I have completed sculpting her body, painted her face and have started on the costume. The costume is taking a long time mostly due to the baking process. She is currently in another baking stage at this moment thus I am going to start rooting the hair on the Gentle Faie. My two little boys are still sleeping and I have an hour or so to work on the fairy. It is supposed to be 99 degrees today! HOT!!! I have not found the battery charger to my camera yet but I’ll have to find it by Saturday. I hope to place the Fairy on ebay in a few days and I need to take pictures of her first. Hmmmm I wonder where I put it?
I stayed up late last night and finished her torso and neck. It was hard to place the neck on her with all her hair. I am going to have to think of a different method. I think I’ll sculpt her neck first next time, then place the hair. Today my goal is to finish her arms and legs. I can’t post pictures because I lost my battery charger when I moved. I am going to have to dig around and find it!
I finished the hair on the Dana o’Shee fairy. I love how it turned out!! It is weird to look at the top of her head and see just the tiniest bit of scalp showing through. I can’t wait to see how it looks when I style it. =) I spent the rest of the day mixing clay ~ it took a long time because the clay was kind of hard.
Ok, I finally started! I sculpted her face about four months ago and thought I had the right look I was going for. But after seeing the fairy in my mind I resculpted a little bit of the face. I made the nose a little more pointy and reshaped the lips to portray the haughty look I was trying to get across. I like the end result and decided to start rooting her hair. It took all day yesterday and I have not completed it yet. I am almost finished and hope to complete the rooting process by the end of today. It is really tricky to get the roots right but I seem to be getting better with each fairy.

The last few days I’ve been in kind of a funk. After finally finishing the moon nymph it has been intimidating to think about starting another fairy ~ the whole process takes so much time and requires so many hours of focused attention that the idea of starting another fairy is rather overwhelming. However…….a fairy has appeared in my mind and I have been thinking about her constantly. I know exactly how I want her to look. She is going to be a Dana o’Shee. Probably the most haughty and self centered collection of all the fairies on Ellenora Island. I’ve been thinking about her personality and the costume she will be wearing. The costume has to portray the look and mindset of the fairy herself. She considers herself part of the royalty of the Island. However she has absolutely no ties to the blood line and therefore tends to overdo the royal look while trying to convince others that she is indeed royalty. I know what position and what colors I am going to do ~ also the look of the fairy wings. I just have to start on it! The starting is so hard! I hope to start on her today if I can get my act together and just start….
I finished her! I can’t beleive I did it!! I feel like I have climbed Mt. Everest or something! It was such a wonderful feeling to look at her and say to myself “I finished her, she is done!” It had been years since I have created a sculpture this large and it was so much fun to costume her! I love how she looks! She looks like a princess to me ~ thus the name. =) She will be available on ebay tomorrow night. I’ll send out a notice via the mailing list as soon as she is placed on ebay. She is so beautiful in real life! I don’t think the pictures did her justice.

Here they are! I updated my old wing design and the result turned out much better then I thought! I can’t wait to see these on the fairy!

This is just the rough start of the Wind Sylph’s Pedistal. I needed something heavy enough to hold her up without her weight tipping the stand over. The rocks are heavy enough. Rowen my son found them in the yard and brought them to me. =)

Here she is with her legs. I am waiting to put her dress on her before I put her arms on. After her arms are on then I’ll paint her face.
